I have just written my first novel and am working on the second in a series. The novels so far are set in the beautiful wine regions of Bordeaux and Catalunya.
Freelance wine writer since 2007 in consumer and trade sectors. Blogs and vlogs (video interviews) with key industry figures, bar reviews and visits to wine regions for The Buyer, Harpers, Londonist and Foodable TV among many others.
Now mainly micro-blog about wine on Social Media with more detailed posts of wine region visits and bar reviews and news. Aim is consumer engagement in and demystification of wine. Also promotion of wine tourism. Happy to review good quality wine samples at all price levels.
Current wine specialisms are ‘traditional method’ sparkling wines especially Cava and Champagne also high quality dry rosés.
Travel frequently – main regions of interest and experience are Spain particularly Jerez and Catalunya. France particularly Champagne, Bordeaux, Languedoc and Roussillon. Also knowledgeable on Italy and Argentina.
Set up the wine lists for indie pubs including the P/L etc. Also have many years food matching knowledge and former catering experience.
Blog promotion ethics: buy most of the wines recommended and usually travel independently. Wine samples reviewed are promoted with links to PR co and / or producer and retail outlet. Press visits and wine events attended are acknowledged.
A current member of the Circle of Wine Writers, I was on the committee between 2012 and 2014. Responsible for updating the website, implementing and co-managing the move onto social media, plus organising the new logo competition.
I have many years also designing websites and online editing. Worked as Production Editor and Copywriter in B2B sector.
Other past wine activities have included full judge status at wine competitions. IWC, IWSC, SWWA and Coup de Coeur, France. I was awarded IWSC associate judge of the year in 2011.
Wine qualifications include WSET Diploma level 5 with dissertation on Argentina. Merit in Vini/Viti at Plumpton. Spent two years studying the MW.
